A Fundraiser in Support of Liver Research and Education.

The LIVERight Gala is an annual signature event that raises funds for liver research and education. The commemorative theme continues to focus on our accomplishments that are made possible by the contributions from the Philanthropic Sector, Medical Professionals and Patients/Volunteers.

Dr. Francis Ho Medical Honouree: Dr. Alnoor Ramji

Dr. Ramji is recognized for his exceptional contributions to liver health research. From award-winning work during his training to leading more than 50 Phase II and III clinical studies, his impact spans Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, fatty liver, and cholestatic liver conditions. He has also played a pivotal role in trials leading to Health Canada approvals and helped shape the Canadian Hepatitis C guidelines, reflecting his influence on both research and national clinical practice.

Patient Honoree: The VanOstrand brothers

Jimmy and David VanOstrand’s story is one of courage, love, and the life-saving potential of medical innovation. When David’s liver disease progressed to a life-threatening stage, Jimmy stepped forward as a living liver donor, becoming the first living donor in BC in a decade. Thanks to cutting-edge research and expertise, Jimmy gave his brother a second chance at life. Their journey is a testament to the power of family, compassion, and the advances in liver medicine made possible through research and funding - a reminder that every donation and every contribution to liver research can change lives.
